Sharon Simpel has been active in higher education since 1981. She has been an instructor and lecturer in New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida, and is an active tutor and writer. As a lecturer, many of her courses were innovative and interdisciplinary. As a leader in education, she added to the Penn curricula for the first time, introducing a course on women in philosophy for undergraduates. She has lectured widely in philosophy and the humanities at NY Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, and Pasco/Hernando Community College. She also held the position of Assistant Director of Admissions at NY Institute of Technology - Old Westbury Campus. In that position, she reviewed thousands of written applications, counseled countless students and their parents, and personally interviewed many potential applicants for admission.
Some of her work has been published while she attended
Barnard College, Columbia University. Her philosophical
specialties are metaphysics and ethics, but she has also
taught topics as diverse as aesthetics, and the philosophy of
women. Among her writings is a novel of experimental fiction.
She holds a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University and
a MA from the University of Pennsylvania.
